Best of all, the slow cooker does most of the work for you, allowing you to enjoy a tender, juicy turkey breast with minimal effort.
Ingredients:
1 (4-5 lb) turkey breast, boneless and skinless
1/4 cup maple syrup (preferably pure maple syrup for the best flavor)
1/4 cup olive oil or melted butter
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening gravy)
Instructions:
Prepare the Turkey Breast: Start by rinsing the turkey breast under cold water and patting it dry with paper towels. Remove any excess fat or skin if necessary.
Make the Maple Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, olive oil (or melted butter), Dijon mustard, soy sauce, minced garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt, and black pepper. This will be the delicious glaze that infuses your turkey with flavor as it cooks.
Set the Turkey in the Slow Cooker: Place the turkey breast into the slow cooker, making sure it fits comfortably. Pour the maple glaze mixture over the turkey breast, ensuring it’s coated evenly.
Add Chicken Broth: Pour the chicken broth around the turkey breast in the slow cooker. The broth helps keep the turkey moist and tender during cooking.
Cook the Turkey: Cover the slow cooker and cook the turkey breast on low for 6 to 7 hours, or until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is fork-tender.
Optional Gravy: Once the turkey is done, carefully remove it from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. If you’d like to make a gravy, pour the cooking liquid from the slow cooker into a saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat. If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water, and whisk it into the simmering liquid. Continue to cook until it thickens.
