Introduction:
The kitchen range hood is your unsung hero, quietly whisking away smoke, steam, and airborne grease while you cook. But over time, this hardworking appliance collects layers of grime and sticky buildup that can impact its performance. Regular maintenance not only keeps your kitchen fresh but also extends the life of your range hood. Here’s a simple, effective, and eco-friendly way to restore its shine.
Ingredients (Cleaning Supplies):
Hot water
Dish soap (degreasing formula preferred)
Baking soda
White vinegar
Microfiber cloths or soft sponges
Old toothbrush or soft scrub brush
Screwdriver (if needed to remove filters)
Spray bottle (optional)
Rubber gloves (recommended)
Instructions:
Unplug and Cool Down: Ensure the hood is turned off and cool before starting. Safety first!
Remove Filters: Take out the grease filters carefully. Use a screwdriver if needed.
Soak Filters: In a sink or basin, mix hot water, a few drops of dish soap, and ¼ cup of baking soda. Soak filters for 15–20 minutes.
Scrub Filters: After soaking, scrub the filters gently with a toothbrush or soft brush to remove remaining grease. Rinse and let them air dry.
Clean the Exterior: Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray onto the hood’s exterior and wipe with a microfiber cloth. For tough grease, apply a paste of baking soda and water and scrub gently.
