Introduction:
Defrosting your freezer can be a messy and time-consuming chore, especially if you need to unplug the appliance and wait hours for the ice to melt. Fortunately, there’s a clever trick that allows you to defrost your freezer quickly—without unplugging it. This guide will walk you through a simple, safe method to make the ice disappear while keeping your freezer powered and your food safe.
Ingredients:
A pot or bowl of hot (not boiling) water
A plastic or silicone spatula
A few dry towels or absorbent cloths
Optional: rubbing alcohol and warm water in a spray bottle
Instructions:
Empty the Freezer: Quickly remove all food items and place them in a cooler or insulated bag to keep them cold.
Prepare Hot Water: Fill a bowl or pot with hot water (around 140°F or 60°C).
Place Hot Water in Freezer: Carefully place the bowl or pot on a thick towel inside the freezer compartment. Close the door if possible to trap the steam.
Let Steam Work: Wait 15–20 minutes as the steam softens and loosens the ice buildup.
