A seemingly ordinary day took on an air of profound worry when James was startled to witness his son Liam sobbing in the attic. No sooner had he hurried upstairs to reassure his terrified kid than a long-buried secret in their attic was exposed by this occurrence.
The tale started in 2018 when deer damaged the arborvitae trees owned by the family. Something out of the ordinary was seen between the trees on the east side of the yard while they were getting ready to repair the damaged trees. What they took for an electrical box ended to being something far more baffling.
The damaged trees were removed and the mystery metal box was accessed in May 2018 by landscapers who were also tasked with growing bamboo that is resistant to deer. Instead of an electrical outlet, the metal box revealed a massive hornet’s nest, which shocked them.
The enormity of the nest, along with the peculiar noises it made, which sounded like a car engine battling to get going, shocked Liam and James. They had never seen a nest like this one, and it seemed to be concealing something significant.
An expert in hornet control responded to James’s call and arrived to the location with assurance. But the specialist’s attitude changed the moment he stepped foot in the attic, where the hornets kept their distinctive hive. His family was horrified when he quickly turned down the position.
No matter how many times James contacted different pest control companies, they all advised him to wait until winter to find a solution. James chose to intervene on his own as the situation worsened and the hornets’ noise got insufferable.
