Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
4 cups beef broth (or chicken broth for a lighter version)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a little heat)
8 oz uncooked lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
1 cup ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Cook the Ground Meat:
In a large pot, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef (or turkey) and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if needed.
