Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Garlic and Lemon
- Peel the garlic cloves and crush or finely chop them to release the beneficial compound, allicin. Let the garlic sit for 10 minutes after chopping to allow the allicin to fully develop.
- Wash the lemons thoroughly, then slice them into thin rounds, removing any seeds.
Step 2: Combine in a Jar
- In a clean glass jar, layer the crushed garlic and lemon slices. You can alternate layers, placing garlic at the bottom and lemon slices on top.
- If you want to make the mixture more liquid for easier consumption, you can add 1 cup of water. You can also drizzle some honey between the layers if you prefer a sweeter taste (honey also has its own antibacterial properties).
Step 3: Seal and Store
- Once you’ve filled the jar with garlic and lemon, tightly seal it with the lid.
- Store the jar in the refrigerator for 24 hours before using, allowing the ingredients to infuse. You can store this mixture in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
