Death of a 7-year-old child crushed in Moselle, her 11-year-old cousin was driving the car

A real drama in Moselle

The tragedy that this family experienced took place in the small town of Yutz, near Thionville in Moselle. On Friday, June 30, 2023, a little girl aged only 7 sadly died, knocked down by her car by her 11-year-old cousin. It was probably just an unfortunate and tragic accident. The regional newspaper Le Républicain Lorrain tells us a little more. The young girl was looking for something in her aunt’s car when she accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal.

Unfortunately, her 7-year-old cousin was in front of the vehicle and was completely crushed between the front of the house and the car.

The investigation is ongoing

As always in this type of accident, an investigation is opened so that the precise circumstances of the accident can be determined. It is up to the police to find clues and carry out this sad investigation.

The little girl’s mother was at work at the time of the accident and was therefore unable to intervene immediately. Her sister was looking after her daughter and her niece. Emergency services were called and arrived very quickly on the scene, but despite all their efforts to save the little girl, she ended up dying. The mother, aunt and cousin were all taken into care. A psychological unit was also opened in the young victim’s school, the Cattenom school.

A near miss

Another similar story almost happened in the same way. In Malaysia, more precisely on the island of Langkawi, two little boys, aged 3 and 6 respectively, got into their parents’ car and drove to a toy store. Everything was going relatively well until the car ended up crashing into a lamppost, after 2.5 kilometers. The Malaysian police quickly intervened and fortunately, there were no casualties. The moral? Keep a close eye on your children and do not leave your vehicle unlocked in their presence to avoid any tragedy.
