DIY Pedicure at Home: How to Use Baking Soda for Smooth, Relaxed Feet

Pedicures are a great way to pamper yourself, and you don’t always have to go to a salon to get beautiful, soft feet. With a few simple ingredients, you can achieve salon-like results from the comfort of your home. One such ingredient is baking soda, which is not only an effective exfoliant but also has cleansing and soothing properties. Here’s how you can perform a relaxing and rejuvenating pedicure at home using baking soda.

What You’ll Need:
2-3 tablespoons of baking soda

A basin or foot spa

Warm water

A pumice stone or foot scrubber

A towel

Nail clippers

Cuticle pusher or orange stick

Moisturizer or foot cream

Nail polish (optional)

Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Soak Your Feet
Start by filling a basin or foot spa with warm water. Make sure the water is comfortable to the touch, not too hot or too cold. Add 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda to the water and stir it until it dissolves completely. The baking soda helps soften your skin, making it easier to remove dead skin and calluses.

2. Soften Your Skin
Soak your feet for about 15-20 minutes. This allows the baking soda solution to penetrate the skin, loosening up any tough, dry patches. You can also gently scrub your feet with your hands to start loosening up any buildup.

3. Exfoliate with a Pumice Stone
After soaking, take a pumice stone or foot scrubber and gently exfoliate the callused areas of your feet. Focus on the heels, balls of your feet, and sides of your toes, where dry skin and buildup are common. Baking soda’s mild abrasive nature makes it an excellent tool for scrubbing away dead skin without irritating your feet.

4. Trim and Shape Your Nails
Use nail clippers to trim your toenails to your desired length. Make sure to cut straight across to avoid ingrown nails. If you have any rough edges, gently file them using a nail file.

5. Push Back Your Cuticles
