“She called the firefighters”: Jacques Dutronc saved by Sylvie Duval, his rare confidences about his discreet companion

Jacques Dutronc is a rather discreet man who rarely mentions his partner Sylvie Duval. However, he agreed to do it in “Le Parisien” a few months ago, notably telling a rather surprising anecdote.
Jacques Dutronc is currently experiencing one of the most complicated periods of his life. On June 11, one of the loves of his life, Françoise Hardy, with whom he remained married until the end despite a separation in 1991, died. The famous singer was obviously at the funeral of Thomas Dutronc’s mother and we saw him there with his partner Sylvie Duval, who has shared his life since 1997. As famous as he is, the 81-year-old artist has always remained a man particularly discreet about his private life and in particular about his love story with the former makeup artist he met on the set of the film Place Vendôme.

However, at the end of 2023, the man we saw being supported by his partner Sylvie Duval to say goodbye to Françoise Hardy on June 20 at the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris, agreed to discuss their relationship. “She doesn’t like people talking about her, but she’s a wonderful girl (…) Without her, I don’t know how I would get by. She knows how to do everything, she cooks, she crafts” , tells the Parisian admiringly of the singer who formed the legendary trio Les nouvelles canailles with Johnny Hallyday and Eddy Mitchell.
Sylvie Duval saved Jacques Dutronc’s life twice!
More than a life partner, Sylvie Duval also saved the life of Jacques Dutronc in the past. A rather astonishing anecdote that the singer was kind enough to tell our colleagues. “I have a hole here [points to his cheek]. I was cut open up to my forehead, because a cat made me fall down the stone stairs in the garden. I was on blood thinners and It was constantly pissing. I had cut my salivary glands,” he says, before continuing: “Sylvie called the firefighters. Otherwise, I would have died.”
If Sylvie Duval, whose relationship with Jacques Dutronc was impacted by Françoise Hardy at the beginning, saved her companion’s life the first time, she subsequently did it again. “The second time, she found me strange, I didn’t put the right buttons… She took me to the hospital in Bastia, I had a huge hematoma in my skull, 75 cl of blood. […] .] I had a narrow escape,” recalls the singer with the cigar and sunglasses. Two quite astonishing stories, but which clearly show the fundamental importance that Sylvie Duval had in the life of Jacques Dutronc.
