Sometimes, I turn this side dish into the main event

3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup chicken broth
In a large saucepan, cook the bacon over medium-high heat. Once the pieces are browned and crispy (about 10 minutes), remove them to a paper-towel lined plate.
Add the onion to the pot and cook until it is lightly browned and softened, about 10 minutes.
Add the cabbage and cook until it is wilted, about 10 minutes.
Add the salt, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth. Cook until the liquid has evaporated, about 10 minutes.
Garnish the cabbage with the crispy bacon pieces.
