This is the story of Flo Osborne, an extraordinary 89-year-old woman who lives in a retirement home. During the first lockdown, and even after, Flo decided to support her community by baking in her small kitchen. She baked up to 20 delicious fruitcakes—just over 100 in total—which she donated to a food collection to help those in need.Flo made each cake herself, mixing the batter, chopping the fruit, and baking them in her small oven. In my eyes, this is a tremendous achievement for the community, and it shows that age doesn’t prevent you from contributing to society.
Unfortunately, despite my efforts, I haven’t been able to get the local media to cover Flo’s incredible work. That’s why I’m reaching out to all of you via Facebook, as you far outnumber the readers of traditional media. Let’s make Flo a social media hero!
