Introduction:
Lemon balm iced tea with basil seeds is a soothing, aromatic herbal drink perfect for hot days or as a calming wellness tonic. Lemon balm, known for its mild lemon scent and stress-relieving properties, pairs beautifully with hydrating basil seeds—also called sabja seeds—which are packed with fiber and antioxidants. This caffeine-free beverage not only refreshes but also supports digestion and overall wellness.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup dried lemon balm leaves (or 1/2 cup fresh leaves)
1 tbsp dried chamomile flowers (optional, for extra calm)
1 tbsp basil seeds (sabja seeds)
4 cups hot water
1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Ice cubes
Lemon slices and mint leaves (for garnish)
Instructions:
Steep the herbs: In a heatproof container or teapot, pour hot (not boiling) water over the lemon balm and chamomile (if using). Cover and let steep for 10–15 minutes.
Prepare basil seeds: While the tea steeps, soak basil seeds in 1/2 cup of water for about 10 minutes until they swell and become gelatinous.
